I am attempting to get to work but having such a hard time focusing on what I need to do. I get home from work and just want to go right to bed.  I have been working on my drawing and photo projects and I will have some to show as of next week.  Also, I am hoping that my new site will be up by November so keep your eyes open for that!

Family Documentation Project

So, as a new addition to a large family, I have many  people and special moments to photograph, my way.  So many moments that we share as a family are special, from birthdays to arguing over something ridiculous.  Its the moments that you stop and notice, or perhaps take for granted that I wish to document.  The following is the beginning of my photographic adventure.

I decided to first just take my camera out with my family as we walked through Skylands Manor.  I was apprehensive at first because this has become a popular wedding location, and a location that many local photo students go to take close up pictures of flowers.(which of course, I did as well, to see if perhaps I could do it differently, which I couldn’t)  But, all the same I grew up going there.  When I was five I would wander through these gardens with my parents and pretend it was my secret garden.  So, although I was aware that some of my shots would come through as cliche photographs, I felt like I should still give it a shot. I tried to remember what it was like to be so young and walk through such a magical place.  At that time it was a much quieter, less popular location, so it was easy to pretend it was your secret.

I also have shots that I took during my husbands birthday that I have posted below.  I am taking the first steps to this project in just observing how these moments speak as photographs first and foremost, we will see how it pans out.
